Friends of Chestnut Ridge Park are dedicated to engaging the Kenmore community around Chestnut Ridge Park through play and cultural events.
Akron Parks Challenge
Chestnut Ridge Park was chosen through the Akron Parks Challenge to get $100,000 worth of improvements, funded by the City of Akron and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. Partners in Kenmore, including KenMore Creative, Rubber City Theater, Church on the Boulevard and Park United are working with the Akron Parks Collaborative to engage the community to find out what they want to see in their neighborhood park.
Initial ideas include improved playgrounds (wooden structures, nature play, musical instruments, rock walls), bike racks and bringing the WPA era amphitheater back to its original glory for concerts, theater and neighborhood gatherings.
